And more…
I have worked extensively with people from diverse backgrounds. I find it important to explore how race, culture, gender-identity, sexuality, and socio-economic status impact our mental health. I practice from a culturally affirming anti-racist model.
What are sessions like?
Sessions are all virtual and last around 50 minutes. I take a collaborative approach to each session letting you set the goals we work on. While I don’t tie myself to one specific apporach I use a lot of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (or parts work), DBT, and Solution Focused models.
Autism and ADHD Care
I specialize in ADHD and have a micro credential in Autistic Centered Therapy from the Chicago School.
As someone with an ADHD and Autism diagnosis myself, I understand how important it is to find a provider who understands all the nuances of the diagnosis.
Whether you’ve been diagnosed since first grade or recently got diagnosed as am adult I will take the time with you help you better understand all the ways ADHD and Autism impact your life and give you tools and strategies to make life easier for you.
I don’t tackle ADHD and Autism with a one size fits all approach because they effect us all differently but I always provide education, behavioral strategies, resources, and help you find ways to advocate for yourself when needed.
It can sometimes feel like you’re living life in “hard mode” or feeling chronically overwhelmed but it doesn’t have feel like all the time.
If you don’t have a diagnosis but have seen some stuff online or been told by friends that you might want to look into it we can take the time to explore rather ADHD or Autism (or both) feels like a good diagnosis for you! You won’t be judged for saying you saw some stuff on Tik Tok that you related to!
Gender Affirming Care
At Kaleidoscope Counseling, I understand the importance of gender affirming care. Whether you are trans, non-binary, gender expansive or just curious about your gender identity I provide individualized therapy to support clients in their gender journey.
Letters for Gender Affirming Surgeries:
In addition to therapy, I also provide assessments for gender affirming surgeries or hormone replacement therapy and provide a letter attesting your readiness for surgery. Letters follow the WPATH guidelines. I enjoy doing assessments and being able to help ensure clients have access to the healthcare they need.
Partners:
It can be a big adjustment when your partner comes to you and says they are transgender and want to either medically transition or start experimenting with new pronouns and gender expression. It is equally important for partners to have a safe place to talk to someone while they’re making changes in their lives as well!
